Abby Vogeley

B.A. in Biology, Wake Forest University

Hello

Welcome to a curated collection of my writing as an undergraduate

As a biology student with minors in neuroscience, psychology, and writing, I have found my writing experiences resembling that of a Venn diagram, or perhaps hemispheres of the right and left brain: to the left, the methodical, succinct, and analytical pieces arising from my biology and neuroscience courses, and to the right, my passion for storytelling, driven by courses within literary nonfiction and personal narration. In the center, we find the pairing of storytelling and research within science journalism. My hope is to continue my advocation for science communication as a research fellow at the National Institute of Mental Health next year through my work within neuroscience and mental health disorders. But for now, please enjoy the work that has influenced not just my writing journey, but my personal aspirations to explore the beauty and complexity of the brain through writing. More about my writing journey can be found here.
